The 22nd annual Cambridge Flea Market.
Saturday, August 3rd – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday, August 4th – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
We were on a much needed week of vacay. In preparation for our 2nd annual 4th of July gathering, I headed to the town of Cambridge to get all the necessities. One of our neighbors gave us a tip on a shortcut – taking the back roads, which shaved off many miles – to get there. When I arrived to otwn, what did I see – A FLEA MARKET!!! I was beyond giddy with excitement. I took a detour from my planned shopping.
In talking with one of the vendors, I discovered it’s held every Tuesday morning, from 6:00 a.m. to noon. She told me that since I now knew, it was my job to tell at least 4 more people know. So I’m holding up my end of the bargain and letting you all know.
I also learned of another not too far away. Just further up north in Pine City. It’s on Wednesday mornings from 6:00 a.m. to noon. So the next morning, I headed up there. My heart was going pitter patter as I approached the fairgrounds. This one was huge. It was not only a flea market, but a farmer’s market too.
Now I just need to figure out how to get there again (and again and again. . .) before the snow flies!
Cambridge Flea Market – Isanti County Fairgrounds
Tuesdays, 6:00 a.m to noon
Pine City Flea Market – Pine City Fairgrounds
Wednesdays, 6:00 a.m. to noon. The flea market will be open every Wednesday through the end of October, weather permitting!
Who knew??!! It has not been legal to have outdoor flea markets in Minneapolis for the past 60 years – they were only allowed to be held indoors! I’ve always been just a teentsy bit envious – OK, I admit it, a lot envious – of all the people that have flea markets in their cities. Flea markets could start popping up here as early as this summer. According to Council Member Gary Schiff, who sponsored the ordinance and is currently running for mayor,“they encourage the re-use of items. They provide space for people who are collectors of vintage, antique and other reused items, and they help really create part of that sustainable local economy that we need”. The City Council Committee vote unanimously approved Schiff’s ordinance change, and moved Minneapolis one step closer to the return of the second-hand market. Bless his heart.

The calendar says it’s spring but it has yet to appear in Minnesota. Thursday, we got 8 inches of snow at our home and 15.5 inches at our cabin! That being said, it’s garage sale/yard sale/flea market season – FINALLY!
This sounds fun. . .
