Papier-Mache Easter Nests

March 24, 2013

This is a quick and easy craft project perfect for Easter.  Smaller versions would also be adorable filled with bird eggs under a cloche.

The inspiration came from this article:

All you need are a few simple items you likely already have around the house.  I chose to use sheet music but you could use pages from a book, brown paper bags or even plain white printer paper!  Tear in to strips or do as I did and run it through your paper shredder.

Next, prep your bowl.  Cover completely and wrap tightly with plastic wrap.  Lay on wax paper – well that’s what the instructions said to do.  To be honest, it stuck to the wax paper.  When I do this again, I’ll try parchment paper.

Mix equal parts white school glue and water.  I used a disposable bowl for easy cleanup – doesn’t get much easier than throwing it away when you’re done!

Then simply dip the paper strips in the glue mixture and lay over the bowl.  Be prepared, it’s just a titch messy.

Let dry for about 12 hours or so.  Very carefully pull the bowl away.

Trim edges if needed and voila – your nests are ready to fill with Easter treats.
